The number of ways to become involved in addressing the orphan-care crisis are limitless and should be guided by each individual’s interests, skills, gifts, talents, and availability. Some may foster, others adopt, others might wish to help with meals, transportation, tutoring, finances, etc. Contact us at volunteer@promise686.org for more information.
Get Plugged In:
- Community: We hope to provide each fostering and adopting family with a community of care to support and encourage both pre and post placement — whether you need a mentor to help you navigate through the challenges of the process, fellowship through our monthly Mom’s Night Out and Dad’s Burger Night, or physical assistance, we’re here to help.
- Financial Assistance: The promise686 fund provides grants to help families offset the cost of adoptions and fostering. We also work with local law firms to provide pro bono or low cost legal services to reduce the costs associated with adoption.

Volunteer:
- To help adopting/fostering families – we have numerous volunteer opportunities to help families directly. You can be a part of a community group supporting foster families or provide practical support like meals, tutoring, notary services, etc. to adopting and fostering families.
Please contact us at volunteer@promise686.org if you are interesting in serving in one of these areas:
Administrative
- Care Calendar Coordinator – “the care calendar” is a web tool which allows for easy planning and implementation of meals and services to families in need. We would love to find someone who would be interested in setting these up for new adoptive and foster families.
- Community of Care Coordinator – this person would work with other volunteers to assure that provisions are made for the needs of fostering families
- Social Coordinator – inform fostering families of opportunities at Perimeter to get their kids “plugged in,” assist with planning of promise686 socials 2-3 times per year, coordinate w/ Mom’s Night Out and Dad’s Burger Night coordinators to prevent overlap
- Mom’s Night Out Coordinator – plan monthly event which primarily includes selecting nights, choosing locations, and sending out evite.
- Dad’s Burger Night Coordinator – plan monthly event which primarily includes selecting nights, choosing locations, and sending out evite.
Service
- Adoption Mentors – we are looking for families who have already walked through the process of adoption and are willing to share their experience with a family who is currently in the journey
- Foster Mentors – we are looking for individuals who are interested in mentoring foster children
- Prayer Captain – we would like to assign each captain 4-5 families to pray for, not just on your own during your quiet time but also to visit and pray in person with them, pray over the phone, and email them weekly to get updated prayer requests
- Transporters – transport foster kids to/from appointments, sports practices, etc. when foster parents are unable
- Babysitters – become trained and certified to provide babysitting for foster families. Did you know that foster families can’t just ask a friend or neighbor to babysit for them? They must find babysitters who are certified by the state to care for their foster kids. This can be very difficult and expensive.
- Meal Providers – provide meals to adoptive or fostering families
