A Calling to Care

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” James 1:27

We believe the church has a responsibility to care for “orphans… in their distress.” At promise686, we are committed to fulfilling this “Calling to Care” by inspiring and equipping families to care for the “fatherless” both here and abroad. There are many ways to get involved in changing a child’s life for the better, be it through volunteering on a Community of Care team, short-term placements like foster care, or permanent placements through adoption. We seek to provide encouragement and inspiration in some of the following ways …

“We are not all called to adopt these children into our families. But we are all called to look at them, even though it makes our eyes burn, and be willing to let their needs disrupt our lives.” — Kristen Swick Wong
